A departure hall for sci-fi cities

The picture above is a model in progress for a departure hall for travelers to imaginary cities collected from science fiction novels and films by Spanish artist Alicia Framis. The model is a draft for a new work she aims to show at Annet Gelink Gallery, at Art Basel in June.
Some of the cities on the board are Buckminster Fuller’s Triton City, Constant Nieuwenhuys’ New Babylon, and Sir Thomas More’s Utopia.
Alicia has been studying Space for some years now. She presented the work Lost Astronaut at Performa 09 in New York. Then, after a continuing research on Space habitation and work with the European Space Agency, she created Moon Life: a vehicle for extraterrestrial exploration through art, architecture and design.
Some of these works are currently on view at the Rabo Kunstzone in Utrecht, in her solo exhibition Daily Future. The show also includes the Moon Life Concept Store, which is not only a work by Alicia, but also a group exhibition of artists, architects and designers in the form of a concept store.
