About

Terve, welkom. My name is Juha van ‘t Zelfde (NL/SF) and I am a researcher, developer and curator working across art, music and technology.
This blog is basically a discipline engine for writing, reflecting and remembering. It helps me organise threads of interest and wonder. It shouldn’t be regarded as coherent or complete - it is work in progress all the way down.
Some of these threads do end up in formal publications. I have written for amongst others De Volkskrant, Volume, MONU, Subbacultcha and Metropolis M. And some of these threads end up being personal talks at festivals and conferences, like FutureEverything, Ars Electronica, Cognitive Cities, Urban Screens Conference, Facing Forward, Museums & the Web, the Geospatial World Forum and Picnic.
I have been a DJ since the age of 12, of mostly experimental, dread-laden dance music. As DJ, I have performed at a.o. Exit Festival (Novi Sad), Skif Festival (St. Petersburg), Satta (Vilnius), the Tonimolkerei (Zürich), the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), Lowlands (Biddinghuizen), North Sea Jazz (Rotterdam), STRP (Eindhoven) and the Venice Biennial.
Since 2007, I have also been making radio on new music for the NPS, VPRO and Red Light Radio. Some of it is available on Soundcloud.
If you’d like to get in touch you can do so by email, or via Twitter, where I am @juhavantzelfde.
Have a nice day.
